Heartland’s Debt Reduction Campaign 2025-2028:
MISSION POSSIBLE: POSSIBLE MISSION
Heartland Church has seen significant growth in ministry and mission the past years along with the addition of new families. Our church community is engaged in meaningful work around food scarcity and refugees. New initiatives are on the horizon identified by our strategic vision. Heartland Church has a bright future impacting the world today with a message of grace and acceptance of all God’s children.
We are blessed to have a lovely facility serving the congregation’s needs, as well as serving a resource for our community – from scout troops to support groups to music concerts. Our amazing property allows for all of this!
The original loan to build additions to our current space was for over 1.7 million dollars. Debt reduction campaigns in 2013 and 2020 reduced this amount by over $581,000. That said, Heartland has a remaining loan balance of $767,405 which will mature as of 9-18-2025. Currently, the interest rate for this loan is 3.70% with a monthly payment of $5,722 (or over $68,666 for the year).

The Finance and Facility Committee met with several lenders. Those willing to provide proposals had rates of 6.75 to 6.85%. The new payment at this higher rate is $6,790 (or $81,480 annually), an increase of $13,000 from current levels.
The committee and the session of Heartland Church feel NOW is the time to retire as much of the debt as possible. If we retired the full debt, the church would have over $68,000 available in our annual budget for mission giving, capital improvements, and strategic vision initiatives.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it, will be to make a financial contribution one time (or more!), over the next three years to reduce the debt and free us for new possible missions.
The Mission Possible: Possible Mission Campaign will officially kicked off on Sunday, September 7, 2025 with a Congregational Meeting after worship and will continue until (hopefully) our debt is paid off.
Questions can be directed to the church office or to a member of the Finance and Facility Committee. Committee members include David McInally, Chuck Wulfsen, Dave Hansen, Mark Kilian, Treasurer, and P. Alex Thornburg, Pastor. Giving pledges can be identified and processed using the link below.
