“You’re Not Listening: What You’re Missing and Why it Matters” Adult Sunday School
Sundays 9 AM, 1/12 – 3/2
In this Sunday School Class we will be reading together a book by Journalist Kate Murphy exploring the barriers and challenges of truly listening to others. Listening is a skill underdeveloped in our modern world leading to loneliness, polarization, and disconnection. Murphy with humor and insight explores the psychology, neuroscience, and sociology of listening. The class will also discuss the importance of listening in our spiritual lives both to God and each other. Books are available in the office.

- Sunday, January 12 – Introduction and Chapter 1
- Sunday, January 19 – Chapter 2, 3, and 4
- Sunday, January 26 – Chapter 5, 6, and 7
- Sunday, February 2 – Chapter 8, 9, and 10
- Sunday, February 9 – Chapter, 11, 12, and 13
- Sunday, February 16 – Chapter 14, 15, and 16
- Sunday, February 23 – Chapter 17 and Conclusion
There are other educational opportunities like book study groups (offered through Presbyterian Women, as well as through Women of JOY), and periodic class offerings on other topics such as aging and parenting. We will consider offering a wide variety of topics. If you are curious about what is currently available or wish to suggest a class, please contact our Director of Children, Youth and Community. Educational opportunities are supervised by Heartland’s Christian Education Committee.
